This chapter describes the Project Scientific Formation from a Gender Perspective in Mexico, wich supports development of gifted indigenous female students. It was started in 2010 by the programme Adopt a Talent (PAUTA) and operates in the Highlands of the state of Chiapas, wich is one of the Mexican regions with very low economic development. Students are identified by their teachers (who participate in a science-teaching program) as being gifted and with a special interest in science. This project includes a scholarship for each student and monthly, weekend-long meetings where they carry out scientific activities and talk to a woman scientist who describes her research work as well as her identity as a awoman in science, and the obstacles she has had to overcome. Female scientist serve as a role model for these girls who are triply challenged for being female, indigenous, and poor. ©Taylor and Francis, 2017.
