En una de esas torturas, le cortaron sus pechos con pinzas de ardiente acero, escena que fue recreada por la iconografía cristiana medieval. Catania, y toda la región alrededor del monte Etna, honran a Águeda como su santa patrona, cuya festividad se festeja el 5 de febrero.
