It makes use of the Mumford-Shah functional19 applied to images of non-uniform illumination. The shape model is computed using string matching techniques from a preliminary hierarchical multiphase method. Its performance, using different metrics, has been evaluated on a set of three angiographic image sequences by comparison with manual delineation. A sensitivity of 91.31 ± 3.52% and a specificity of 94.28 ± 9.17% were found in the quantitative validation analysis. © (2013) COPYRIGHT Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
