Esa labor compete, principalmente, a la universidad, en cuanto taller luminoso de la cultura. Hablar de universidad podría quedar en una pura abstracción. Son los profesores, quienes la constituyen y vivifican, los que con su docencia,su amistad, su palabra y su ejemplo, pueden convencer al mundo de que no sólo tenemos necesidad de tecnología de punta o de infraestructuras de vanguardia sino, sobre todo, de esas realidades humanas que parecen estar en peligro de extinción: honradez, justicia, paz, veracidad,respeto, fraternidad, amor… De todo eso que no saben hacerlas máquinas.Todo profesor universitario, cualquiera sea su especialidad, está en óptimas condiciones de orientar su cátedra hacia una pedagogía de la integridad moral.Se trata de no olvidar que educador no es quien transmite un mensaje,sino que todo él es un mensaje; y que la educación no es transmisión de valores, sino valorización de la vida.El trabajo docente en todos los niveles de enseñanza es igualmente encomiable. Y toda educación está obligada a ser siempre optimista: la educabilidad (mejorabilidad, perfectibilidad) del hombre es la gran esperanza de la humanidad. Es verdad que nadie es perfecto, pero todos somos perfectibles, mejorables. Si el hombre no fuera mejorable sería absurdo hablar de educación. Siguen siendo verdad las palabras de González-Simancas: la auténtica educación es el cultivo terco de uno mismo ¡a golpe de libertad!The pessimistic situation that the world and our country suffer today, requires that each profession is obliged to carry out a work of moral, social, cultural and spiritual healing. This work is mainly the responsibility of the university, as a luminous workshop of culture.Talking about the university could be left in pure abstraction. They are the professors, who constitute and vivify higher education and who with their teaching, their friendship, and their example, can convince the world that not only cutting-edge technology or cutting-edge infra-structures are needed, but above all, Those human realities that seem to be in danger of extinction: honesty, justice, peace, truthfulness, respect, fraternity, love ... all those things that are not made by machines.Every university professor, whatever his specialty, is in position to orient his teachings towards a pedagogy of moral integrity, because the educator is not only a person that transmits a message, but everything in himself of herself is the message; and that education is not the trans-mission of values, but the appreciation of life.Teaching, at all educational levels is equally commendable. And ed-ucation is always obliged to be optimistic: the educability (improve-ment, perfectibility) of man is the great hope of humanity. It is true that no one is perfect, but we are all perfectible. If man could not be improved, it would be absurd to talk about education.
