This paper provides an empirical argument in favor of changing the instrument that the Mexican Central Bank (Banco de Mexico) employs to conduct its monetary policy. Indeed, we show in this essay that the present added money supply instrument that Banxico uses, inhibits its ability to conduct an ordered correction of the exchange.
