Background: Because of the availability of molecular techniques in clinical care, acute gastroenteritis (AGE) due to norovirus has returned to importance as a causative agent of hospitalization. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical features and evolution of patients less than 16 years hospitalized for AGE associated with norovirus. Methods: Retrospective study. Clinical information of the patients attended from November 1, 2016 to February 28, 2018 by AGE with detection of norovirus (genotype I and II) in faeces by means of polymerase chain reaction with reverse transcriptase was collected. © Boletín Médico del Hospital Infantil de México

Introduction: there are few studies on pediatric patients with severe intoxications requiring management in intensive care units (ICUs). Objective: to describe the clinical characteristics of patients treated in the ICU for intentional or accidental intoxications. Material and methods: observational, descriptive, and retrospective study of 26 patients, younger than 17 years of age, admitted to the ICU for severe intoxication in a private hospital. ©Revista Mexicana de Pediatría

Introduction: in order to limit the contagion of COVID-19, home confinement and the application of sanitary measures were necessary, which had an effect in the emergency services. Objective: to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the frequency of patient care in a pediatric emergency department. Material and methods: retrospective study in a private hospital in Mexico, in which two periods were analyzed: pre-pandemic (2019-2020) and during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2021). In these two periods, the frequency of emergency medical consultations provided to children and adolescents was compared. The information is broken down by month and by type of illness: infectious, non-infectious, and due to accidents. © Revista Mexicana de Pediatría

Objective: To describe the frequency and causes of in-hospital death in neonates admitted to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), according to the weeks of gestational age (WGA), over a period of two years. Material and methods: This is a descriptive study, which was performed with the review of clinical records of newborns admitted to the NICU. Days of hospital stay, discharge condition and causes of death were recorded. The analysis was performed with mortality rates per 100 admissions, according to the WGA. © Revista Mexicana de Pediatría
