Item type:Publication, Some ethical considerations about pornography regulations(2016) ;Pietrini Sánchez, María JoséMARIA JOSE PIETRINI SANCHEZ;407585In this paper I analyse the main moral arguments of radical feminists and liberal feminists on pornography. Radical feminists claim that pornography is intrinsically immoral, since it is a violent representation of women as sexual objects and perpetuates gender inequality, therefore, they insist on its ban. In contrast, liberal feminists defend that there are moral arguments in favour of pornography, since it is a case of free speech and, as such, it ought to be tolerated. Here I hold that while some sexually-explicit materials are immoral and must be restricted by law, it is nevertheless some of them should be tolerated or supported by the state if it is the case that they promote gender equality.7 54
