Item type:Publication, Evolutionary Optimization of Entanglement Distillation Using Chialvo Maps(Springer, 2023) ;Ganesan, Timothy; ;Marmolejo Saucedo, José AntonioVasant, PandianIn quantum information theory, entanglement distillation is a key component for designing quantum computer networks and quantum repeaters. In this work, the practical entanglement distillation problem is re-designed in a bilevel optimization framework. The primary goal of this work is to propose and test an effective optimization technique that combines evolutionary algorithms (differential evolution) and the Chialvo map - for solving the bilevel practical entanglement distillation problem. The primary idea is to leverage on the complex dynamical behavior of Chialvo maps to improve the optimization capabilities of the evolutionary algorithm. Analysis on the computational results and comparisons with a standard evolutionary algorithm implementation is presented. ©2023 springer, The authors.Scopus© Citations 1 50 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A Set-Partitioning-Based Model to Save Cost on the Import Processes(2017) ;Saucedo-Martínez, Jania Astrid ;Marmolejo Saucedo, José AntonioVasant, PandianComplying with standards as part of the process of importing products within the supply chain is important, as it is a requirement that must be met to continue with the flow of the chain. In addition, it ensures compatibility in operation, voltage, power, amperage in the home and business, etc. Issuance of certificates varies in cost as a result of the way the product family is grouped, tested and measured. The following research proposes a mathematical model, based on the Set Partitioning Problem, which makes groups by product families. Thus obtaining a significant reduction of stationery, tests and costs associated with this process for products to be imported and marketed in the country. Several test cases will be presented and a comparison will be made between the current empirical process and the proposed mathematical model.9 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Editorial : Computer science and engineering(2018) ;Weber, Gerhard-Wilhelm ;Vasant, PandianMarmolejo Saucedo, José AntonioDuring previous decades, modern approaches to Operational Research (OR), Computation and Optimization have attracted a growing number of scientists, pedagogues, advisors, deciders and practitioners. Actually, very strong and smart (“intelligent”) computational techniques arose for handling a very large number of real-world challenges and crises, in particular, in relation with the main areas of optimization in theory and practical use. Those real problems are characterized by their tremendous non-convexity and complexity. In the communities of OR, Analytics and Computation worldwide, researchers and investigators from different fields, spectra, continents and regions have cooperated to find smart answers for those striking and urgent difficulties. Within that scientific global family, there are scholars from IFORS, its regional groupings and, inside of them, national OR societies and working groups. High increase of human population, feeling of being lonely or lost, problems with the fast process of “globalization”, related “losses” everywhere on the globe, illness, societal conflicts and wars, prove that the “Human Factor” ought to be considered and taken into account much more than in past eras by researchers, educators, leaders, engineers, officials, and also medical doctors, advisers and trainers. Important representations and incorporations of the “Human Factor” through Intelligence, Humanity and Humility should be hosted to a rising degree in the areas of OR, Analytics and Computation. © 2018Scopus© Citations 1 4 2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Evaluation of inequality and technical efficiency of federal health financing for population without social security per Federal Entity, 2004–2012 in México(2017); ;Marmolejo Saucedo, José AntonioVasant, PandianThe main goal of this paper is evaluate inequality and technical efficiency of federal health financing for population without social security per federative entity. Were estimated two inequality measures of federal financing for population without social security per Federal Entity: the Gini coefficient and the Theil entropy index. Four stochastic frontier models were calculated to measure technical efficiency of health production per federative entity (2004–2012). Information on health expenditure, physical and human resources yielded by the Ministry of Health through SINAIS was used. The federal financing for population without social security has reduced inequality among Federal Entities due to the incorporation of the SPSS (Mexican system of social protection in terms of health). The estimate of technical efficiency of Federal Entities through stochastic frontiers shows that most of these entities have health production inefficiencies both at outpatient and hospital levels, being the outpatient level the one with more inefficiency. Not necessarily entities that receive greater resources produce more health. The existence of multiple financing sources has limited the effect of the SPSS to reduce inequality in financing for population without social security among Federal Entities. More health resources are needed in order to face demographic and epidemiological transitions, but it is necessary to spend the available resources in a more efficient way. There are three main lines of action in terms of financing: structuring financing sources and improving the allocation mechanisms; and strengthening evaluation and monitoring resources exercise.Scopus© Citations 2 26 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Industry 4.0 framework for management and operations: a review(2017) ;Saucedo-Martínez, Jania Astrid ;Pérez-Lara, Magdiel ;Marmolejo Saucedo, José Antonio ;Salais-Fierro, Tomás EloyVasant, PandianThe evolution of markets and customer requirements with highest level of precision, has been achieved created with technology and information systems, a new way of make the operations in the companies, and just the companies with the ability to adapt faster to technological innovations may remain on the market. The last industrial revolution, known as industry 4.0 perceives the operations as a holistic system, its represents a challenge that must be fulfilled and faced in order to achieve stability and permanence in the market, from the point of view of the world economies. In the organizational and business area all the operations must be linked to computer systems and management of information in the network, which causes greater efficiency in the flow. With this new perception of industry and the business, it involves different analytical tools that aim at bigger efficiency in the service to the consumers, resulting in a greater competitiveness in the market and making the differentiator. This work is one of the first surveys that provides an extensive analysis and review of 110 publications that appear from 1/01/12 to 20/02/17. The purpose of the study is to analyze categorically recent advances through qualitative and segmentation methods allowing to reveal trends and areas of opportunity in the industry sense of 4.0 in order to obtain research gaps that may be executed in organizational systems on the value chain. Another point is to be a reference in future research related to the categories selected in this study. © Springer NatureScopus© Citations 224 18 2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Monkey Algorithm for Packing Circles with Binary Variables(2018) ;Torres Escobar, Rafael ;Marmolejo Saucedo, José Antonio ;Litvinchev, IgorVasant, PandianThe problem of packing non-congruent circles within a rectangular container is considered. The objective is to place the maximum number of circles inside the container such that no circle overlaps with another one. This problem is known to be NP-Hard. Dealing with these problems efficiently is difficult, so heuristic-based methods have been used. In this paper the problem of packing non-congruent circles is solved using the binary version of monkey algorithm. The proposed algorithm uses a grid for approximating the container and considering the grid points as potential positions for assigning centers of the circles. The algorithm consists of five main routines: the climb process, watch-jump process, repairing process, cooperation process and somersault process. Numerical results on packing non-congruent circles are presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed approach. © Springer NatureScopus© Citations 7 6 2
