La invasión silenciosa de la tecnología inteligente. Una relectura de “Los caballos de Abdera” de L. Lugones

En el presente artículo se elucidan las fronteras epistemológicas entre el mito y la ciencia ficción dentro del cuento “Los caballos de Abdera” (Las Fuerzas extrañas). Se sostiene que la relectura mitológica desarrollada por Lugones en su cuento si bien no es ciencia ficción (CF), presenta un modelo de naturalización de los eventos fantásticos. En la primera parte se muestran las claves hermenéuticas de esta interpretación lugoniana resaltando la flexibilidad de los mitos para adaptarse a los modelos narrativos de diversas épocas; en la segunda parte, aprovechando la plasticidad del formato mítico, se analiza el proceso de habituación a través del cual se ha naturalizado el uso exagerado de la tecnología en nuestras prácticas diarias para con ello delinear uno de los tópicos recurrentes del género de la CF: las invasiones de seres extraños.

Mito y cuidado político en Ernst Cassirer. La función de la Filosofía como constructora de la Paz

Cassirer propone como responsabilidad de la Filosofía el deber de cuidar que la totalidad de los símbolos operen de acuerdo a su forma individual. Particularmente, el autor considera que, debido al poder evocativo del mito y de su estructura pre-lógica, constituía un fértil campo de fundamentación para sistemas políticos como el Nazismo y el Fascismo, dos sistemas cuya característica es el abandono y descuido de fundamentos antropológicos inclusivos. El objetivo del presente trabajo es reconstruir la crítica aducida por el Neo-kantiano a la aparición y emergencia del mito político. Como resultado se mostrará cómo una crítica de la cultura, en los términos propuestos en la Filosofía de las Formas simbólicas y en El mito del estado, ofrece nuevos recursos interpretativos para la construcción de un modelo de cuidado político cuya finalidad es la construcción de una cultura de la paz.

Taking on the Habit: Kierkegaardian Faith as an Aristotelian Virtue

In this article, we would like to argue that the notion of faith, as seen in the anthropology that Kierkegaard presents in works such as The Sickness unto Death or Postscript, among others, shows striking similarities with the Aristotelian ethics of virtue. In a more specific manner, we wish to propose that faith can be interpreted as a virtue in the Aristotelian sense since one can find the following three aspects in it: (1) faith is a state based on habit; (2) faith makes human beings good; and (3) faith makes the human being perform her characteristic activity well. In our view, these features correspond to Aristotle’s definition of virtue: “If this is so in all cases, the virtue of a human being too will be the state that makes a human being good and makes him perform his characteristic activity well”. (Nicomachean Ethics, 1106a).

In Search of “That Archimedean Point”: The Development of Selfhood in Kierkegaard’s Journal of Gilleleje

Abstract This article offers a philosophical account of the so-called journal of Gilleleje. I would like to argue that in this text from 1835 one can trace the early philosophical musings of Kierkegaard on the existential question of the discovery of the self and the development of selfhood, one of the main motifs in the authorship of the Dane. Additionally, I discuss the literary trends of the 1830s in Golden Age Denmark, particularly the boom of the Danish short novel and Heiberg’s admiration of Goethe, analyzing in what way this local context impacted Kierkegaard’s ideas in the journal of Gilleleje.

The bounds of myth : the logical path from action to knowledge

The articles in The Bounds of Myth, edited by Gustavo Esparza and Nassim Bravo, shed light on the internal shapes of the mythological discourse, showing the way in which myth borders religion, science, literature, theology, i.e., other forms of rationality. The contributing authors of the volume claim that myth is a valid form of thought and that the former evolves within other forms of discourse, even though its composition is independent and even precedes the latter. The articles collected here demonstrate the importance of myth as a form of thought that is in constant development, a feature that shows in turn that in spite of its remote and archaic origin, myth remains a valuable and relevant tool to interpret our own culture.

Johan Ludvig Heiberg y su diagnóstico de la crisis de la época en la Edad de Oro de Dinamarca

En este artículo examino el diagnóstico elaborado por Johan Ludvig Heiberg acerca de la crisis de su época, la llamada Edad de Oro de Dinamarca, en su obra de 1833 Sobre la importancia de la filosofía para la época presente. A pesar de que en los últimos tiempos se ha mostrado un mayor interés por el mundo intelectual de la Edad de Oro danesa, en gran parte debido a la vigencia de un pensador como Søren Kierkegaard, lo cierto es que se conoce poco o nada acerca de una de sus más importantes figuras, J. L. Heiberg. Con esto en mente, en el presente artículo intento arrojar luz sobre su figura y su pensamiento, especialmente su proyecto de utilizar la filosofía hegeliana para resolver la crisis cultural de su tiempo.
