El desencanto de las palabras : seis ensayos frente a Hegel

Uno de los principales rasgos de la filosofía contemporánea es éste: se define contra Hegel o desde Hegel. Lo que no hay es filosofía del siglo XX o del XXI sin Hegel; y un problema es que muy pocos entienden siquiera a grandes rasgos al gran idealista alemán. El volumen de López Farjeat ostenta un doble mérito: penetra, con precisión y versatilidad, en álgidas cuestiones hegelianas, y además lo hace frente a Hegel; evita los extremos de la hegelianización, por un lado, y el exabrupto fragmentario contra el sistema, por el otro. Carlos Pereda lo subraya en el prólogo: para López Farjeat, Hegel no es ni un ídolo ni un monstruo: es un interlocutor. El autor dialoga con los textos hegelianos y, además, los contextualiza, en el preciso sentido hermenéutico de relacionarlos adecuadamente con otros textos. Aparecen así Wittgenstein, Aristóteles, Putnam. El volumen consta de seis ensayos, unos más críticos que otros, alguno sumamente técnico (el tratamiento de Metafísica XII, 7, y su lectura idealista es propio de un auténtico scholar); alguno francamente audaz e innovador (la comparación con el realismo interno de Putnam no es poca cosa) e incluso alguno más en las fronteras entre filosofía y literatura —se habla de la poética del idealismo hegeliano en un espléndido ensayo final que invoca Hölderlin—. El libro está trabajado con cuidado y erudición, y a la vez resulta sumamente intuitivo, dos rasgos pocas veces coincidentes en un mismo trabajo

La mente animal: de Aristóteles y el aristotelismo árabe y latino a la filosofía contemporánea

"La posición que posee el ser humano como especie en el mundo ha sido una de las cuestiones que la filosofía ha tratado de desentrañar a lo largo de su historia. En buena medida, la conceptualización de tal posición puede encontrarse preponderantemente por vía negativa, es decir, por conocer aquello que no somos. En este sentido, encontramos en los animales un primer referente de semejanza y, a la vez, de cierta distancia respecto de lo que decimos ser los seres humanos. La relación entre la mente humana y la mente animal se presenta, entonces, como el candidato perfecto para colocarnos en vías de establecer esta relación. En efecto, culturalmente parece haber sido la racionalidad humana la que ha servido como frontera entre lo humano y lo animal; sin embargo, la investigación contemporánea, en muchos de sus ámbitos, parece estar replanteando y cuestionando fuertemente este paradigma. Es en esta tónica en la que se inserta el libro La mente animal. De Aristóteles y el aristotelismo árabe y latino a la filosofía contemporánea, compilado por Luis Xavier López–Farjeat y publicado por Los Libros de Homero. El libro, como su propio compilador lo afirma, pretende hacer un análisis sobre el pensamiento de distintos autores de la filosofía antigua, moderna y contemporánea sobre la posibilidad de la mente animal. Contextualizing premodern philosophy: explorations of the Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, and Latin Traditions

This volume brings together contributions from distinguished scholars in the history of philosophy, focusing on points of interaction between discrete historical contexts, religions, and cultures found within the premodern period. The contributions connect thinkers from antiquity through the Middle Ages and include philosophers from the three major monotheistic faiths—Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.
