Abstract
Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous mycosis frequent in Mexico, caused by Sporothrix schenckii complex. It is an occupational disease and its route of entry is by traumatisms; it is common in children and adolescents. We present the case of a 14-year-old male patient, with clinical development of four months of evolution later of an indeterminate traumatism. The patient presented with a dermatosis located on face that affected infra-mandibular region constituted by erythemato-squamous plaque, with definite limits. The diagnosis confirmed a fixed-cutaneous sporotrichosis, by intradermal-reaction to sporotrichin and isolation of the etiologic agent which was identified as Sporothrix schenckii (sensu stricto), for its morphology, biochemical, thermal tests and sequence of the genes: chitin synthase, b-tubulin, and calmodulin. The patient received treatment with potassium iodide for three months achieving clinical and mycological cure.
