Abstract
This chapter underscores the role of assertiveness by critically analysing the edited collection of 12 interdisciplinary chapters using a mixed-method approach. It summarises its key points, highlighting the importance of assertiveness across the health domain: as a valuable tool for personal growth and healthy developmental trajectories leading to psychological well-being and functioning, as an interpersonal skill crucial for healthy communication and social interactions, and for building positive relationships among peers, authorities, colleagues, and in educational contexts (e.g., between teachers and students), and as a professional skill for providing quality services based on dignified care, quality clinical care, positive teamwork, and good work relationships and interactions. Lastly, it provides a means to acquire assertiveness through training and education, introducing the LADDER model. ©The author ©Emerald.
