Abstract
Vasco de Quiroga arrived in New Spain as Oidor of the Second Great Audience playing a fundamental role in the abolition of indigenous slavery. In the document of its authorship known as Información en Derecho developed a series of arguments that showed the illegality of the Royal Warrant that allowed slavery, in its two modalities by war and ransom, aiding in the protection of the natural and acting against the abuses of ambitious conquerors. The present work aims to show, through historical-legal analysis and documentary technique, the protection that Vasco de Quiroga gave to the native people to be recognized as free men. ©2018, Instituto de Estudios Auriseculares (IDEA).
