    Image and Representation on E. Cassirer. A Reflection since the Computed Tomography Scan
    (2022) ; ;
    Brambila-Paz, Fernando
    This article studies the concepts of image and representation in Ernst Cassirer’s philosophy. In this text the symbolic value with which the neo-Kantian defines images becomes evident. Based on this, it is explained how these can be presented as a relationship of identity between a defined object and the concept constructed by an epistemic agent. To illustrate such theory, the operation of the Computed Axial Tomography (CAT) is considered to show that the purpose of medical images is to represent reality digitally, for which it is only required to symbolize the shape of the body. Finally, the use of the Doppler Effect is suggested as an alternative method to consider in the operation of the CAT.
