Item type:Publication, Tools in viral times: questioning the use of technologies in mexican schooling practices(Universidad Panamericana, Escuela de Pedagogía, 2021-01-02) ;Casanueva, AlonsoUniversidad Panamericana. Campus Ciudad de México. Escuela de PedagogíaWhilst thinking about the current pandemic and the way that it has come to transform the institutions of my home country, I have come across an example that made me recall Benjamin’s project. The secretariat of public education in Mexico −the institution in charge of the standardized schooling practices there− organized for the current semester to take place via radio, internet, but most importantly, television. From August 24th to the end of the school year (July 2021), thirty million Mexican students3 will enrol in school whilst relying on technologies that usually do not play a central role in their formal learning experiences. The written word has been overtaken by waves, signals, and connections.4 132 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, La educación en los medios y la actividad ciudadana(Universidad Panamericana, Escuela de Pedagogía, 2017-07-10) ;Naval Durán, Concepción ;Arbués Radigales, ElenaUniversidad Panamericana. Campus Ciudad de México. Escuela de PedagogíaMedia education has become a necessity in the world of information and communication. Part of this debate that is being considered by the teaching community focuses on two main issues: Why should we edu-cate on the use of information and communication technologies? How should this be done and by whom? (Potter, 2010). In this paper, we will study these issues in-depth, whilst focusing on various European educational policies in addition to recommendations made by several international organizations (European Parliament Report 2008/2129 (INI). Our aim is to contribute to this debate, as far as possible, with an appropriate media pedagogy plan that promotes social and civic competencies, which will ultimately lead to acquiring the knowledge and skills needed for good citizenship1 60 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
