    Higher education requires responding to contemporary challenges and future trends that face humanity by equipping students with new skills that allow for their personal and professional development. Therefore, universities should promote educational leadership and innovation to enrich learning experiences with novel methods and approaches that advance the education they provide. This workshop offers a framework for reflecting upon and identifying those aspects that can help (re) shape learning experiences in these terms. Participants will conduct discussions about their views on current challenges, learning experiences, educational leadership, and innovation, and find alternatives to advance engineering education in delivering high-impact value to students, organizations, and societies in general. ©The authors, IEEE.

    Las humanidades en tiempos del Antropoceno: en el umbral entre humanismo y posthumanismo

    Frente al anuncio del Antropoceno como la nueva era geológica en la que el ser humano ha llegado a convertirse en la principal fuerza telúrica del planeta, las humanidades se ven claramente solicitadas. Ellas deben revisar a fondo la concepción usual del ser humano definido a partir de su distinción esencial frente a la naturaleza. En esa tarea se les ofrecen dos caminos a seguir: uno conserva premisas fundamentales de la tradición humanista, mientras el otro busca separarse de dicha tradición y abrirse a un nuevo paradigma de pensamiento posthumanista. Este artículo contrasta ambos enfoques, preguntándose cuál de ellos da mejor cuenta del Antropoceno en cuanto evento cuya novedad invita a redefinir lo que significa ser humano.

    Virtues and the common good in production

    This chapter explains the nature of leadership and why ethics is critical both in the behavior of the leader and the study of leadership. It also explains leadership from the perspective of Aristotle, MacIntyre and Catholic Social Teaching. The chapter discusses the virtues that today's leaders need. It integrates notions of human dignity and the common good into a framework for virtuous leadership. The chapter examines the leader: why ethics and the virtues are critical and how the leader's character relates to the firm in particular and society in general. This is because good corporate performance needs good leadership. Leadership literature has focused on leaders' personal characteristics, leader-related skills and behaviors. There is also a stream of research on differentiating transformational from transactional leaders. Transactional leaders guide followers towards established goals by clarifying role and task requirements. ©2018 Taylor and Francis Group.

    Informe sobre la Maestría Internacional en Investigación en Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación de la Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (Bolivia): un caso de éxito durante la pandemia

    El presente informe presenta el caso de la Maestría Internacional en Investigación en Humanidades, el proceso que llevó a su apertura y la estructura que la caracteriza. Se analizan brevemente características como sus objetivos, el modelo curricular, que es parte fundamental de su éxito, así como la capacidad de poder optimizar el desarrollo del programa en el período de pandemia. La combinación de su estructura modular, su plan curricular diverso y adaptable, así como las herramientas sencillas pero eficaces muestran como, sin la necesidad de altísimos niveles tecnológicos, ni de una infraestructura costosa, se pueden alcanzar un ejemplo de éxito en los estudios de postgrado y en particular en la investigación.
