Item type:Publication, The Perception of the Divine: Myth, Art, and Religion in Ernst CassirerAccording to the philosophy of religion proposed by Ernst Cassirer, myth and religion are two symbolic forms whose goal of representation is the idea of the sacred; to achieve this, both use different aesthetic representations such as totem, ritual, or art to configure their own idea of the divine. Through a critical examination of the author’s work, both the structure and the form of mythical and religious thought are analyzed to describe the aesthetic function fulfilled in each form. To illustrate the contribution that art offers in the contemplation of the divine in both modalities, we will use Ratzinger’s sermon “The Feeling of Things, the Contemplation of Beauty.”26 38 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Image and Representation on E. Cassirer. A Reflection since the Computed Tomography Scan(2022); ; Brambila-Paz, FernandoThis article studies the concepts of image and representation in Ernst Cassirer’s philosophy. In this text the symbolic value with which the neo-Kantian defines images becomes evident. Based on this, it is explained how these can be presented as a relationship of identity between a defined object and the concept constructed by an epistemic agent. To illustrate such theory, the operation of the Computed Axial Tomography (CAT) is considered to show that the purpose of medical images is to represent reality digitally, for which it is only required to symbolize the shape of the body. Finally, the use of the Doppler Effect is suggested as an alternative method to consider in the operation of the CAT.38 2
