Nuevos hábitos, prácticas, modos de apropiación y rituales de consumo de películas mexicanas en tiempos de pandemia : un estudio de caso en Monterrey, Nuevo León

El objetivo general de esta investigación fue identificar y analizar los hábitos, prácticas, modos de apropiación y rituales de consumo de las películas mexicanas de los habitantes del área metropolitana de Monterrey que permanecieron recluidos por la pandemia del COVID-19, en un contexto de cierre masivo de las salas de cine dadas las restricciones provocadas por la pandemia y, paradójicamente, ante una creciente nueva época de oro para el cine mexicano. Esta investigación se realizó con un enfoque cualitativo; es un estudio exploratorio en el que se utilizó la técnica de la entrevista en profundidad. La muestra fueron 43 sujetos voluntarios, adultos recluidos en casa, de ambos sexos y en un rango de edades de entre 41 y 86 años. Los resultados muestran que el cambio fue más significativo entre los adultos de la tercera edad, quienes mencionaron que para ellos ir a las salas de cine significaba mucho, ya que, junto a la asistencia a los casinos, eran sus únicas distracciones antes de la pandemia, aunque también mencionaron estarse acostumbrando ahora a ver películas en la televisión vía las plataformas de streaming, particularmente en Netflix, aunque sienten que no dominan la tecnología para su disfrute. En cuanto al consumo de películas mexicanas, a los adultos mayores no les gustan mucho las nuevas películas, siguen prefiriendo las de la Época de Oro del siglo pasado y, si bien mencionaron que en las que han visto recientemente observan que en cierta forma representan la realidad de nuestro país, dijeron que por su temática consideran van dirigidas a un público más joven.

The general objective of this research was to identify and analyze the habits, practices, modes of appropria-tion and consumption rituals of Mexican films of the inhabitants of the Monterrey metropolitan area who remained in seclusion due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in a context of massive closure of movie theaters due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic and, para-doxically, in the face of a growing new golden age for Mexican cinema. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach; it is an exploratory study in which the in-depth interview technique was used. The sample consisted of 43 volunteer subjects, homebound adults, of both sexes and ranging in age from 41 to 86 years old. The results show that the change was more signifi-cant among older adults, who mentioned that going to movie theaters meant a lot to them, since, along with attending casinos, they were their only distractions be-fore the pandemic, although they also mentioned that they are now getting used to watching movies on TV via streaming platforms, particularly Netflix, although they feel they have not mastered the technology for their en-joyment. Regarding the consumption of Mexican films, older adults do not like new films very much, they still prefer those of the Golden Age of the last century and, although they mentioned that in those they have seen recently they observe that in some way they represent the reality of our country, they said that because of their subject matter they consider that they are aimed at a younger audience.
