Abstract
This edited volume is a collection of essays by eighteen prominent voices in Sardinian history. It presents current research and introduces an important subject to English-speaking readers. Medieval and early modern scholarship on Sardinia has considerably grown in the last decades, and Hobart’s volume helps non-Sardinianists surveying this new landscape. The book is organised into three main sections: History, Archaeology and Culture. As an introduction, the editor offers a summary of medieval Sardinian history and a chronological outline of the historical writing, although the methodological and ideological constraints of the historiography are not addressed.
