Abstract
The increasing preoccupation of adolescents with weight loss compels us to ponder on the prevailing aesthetic models of modern society. It is a well known fact that this preoccupation with weight is one of the biggest risk factors in triggering eating disorders. Investigators such as Heinnberg Thomson and Stormer (1995) point out the fact that feminine beauty ideals have been changing, and evidence suggests that women have been trying to alter their bodies based on social demand. However unattainable beauty standards are now changing into models which the media are now trying to present as real people and not manipulated images.
