Item type:Publication, Systematic Review of Literature on Lean and Six Sigma in Healthcare and Directions for Future Research(IEOM Society International, 2020); ;Rodrigo E. Peimbert-garcía ;Timothy MatisJonathan Cuevas-ortuñoHealthcare organizations have increasingly turned to Lean and Six Sigma (LSS) as management systems to achieve quality and efficiency in patient care. This study aims to classify this body of literature and to discover factors that enable and prevent successful LSS implementations. Peer-reviewed literature in journals that were published through 2018 in English language were sought through a search of multiple databases. The inclusion criterion was broad in that all areas of healthcare and interpretations of LSS were considered. The literature search yielded 368 publications. One third of the studies present a U.S. affiliation and only 19% has been conducted in developing countries. The case study is the most popular study type but only represents around 52% of the body of literature. Lean and the ED are preferred approach and setting, respectively. Factors that enable and prevent successful implementation were grouped by Managerial, Preparation, People, and Project relationships. There is a need for future literature to provide a longitudinal balanced view on the benefits and challenges of implementations, and for studies to follow experimental designs for statistical validity. This is the most inclusive review about LSS in healthcare as it includes different study types, healthcare settings and LSS tools together.34 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A State of the Art of Non-fungible Tokens: A Literature Review(Springer, 2024-01-01) ;Cattori Krähenbühl, JoanMarmolejo Saucedo, José AntonioNon-fungible tokens, also known as NFTs, are based on the blockchain and are a type of proprietary digital asset registered on the blockchain, making them unique, irreplaceable, and indivisible assets. This main feature makes up the nascent and emerging phenomenon that has revolutionized the way digital assets are and will be handled in the future. Its success and importance has resonated particularly in the first and second quarter of 2022, and however, the full application and reach of NFTs through its technology in human life are still yet to be discovered. The main objective of this chapter is to inform the audience of developments in the research field, discuss the importance and significance of the issues investigated to analyze the relevance and suitability of the topic in order to inform the audience about its operations, and generate, through the NFTs, economical value and further knowledge for future applications. This is the reason why a systematic review of the literature on the subject of “non-fungible tokens” is carried out based on publications of Scopus indexed journals, with a collection of information from 2017 to 2022.42 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The international popularisation of lesson study: early studies and their relevance in later literature(Universidad Panamericana, Escuela de Pedagogía, 2021-12-31) ;Hervas, GabrielUniversidad Panamericana. Campus Ciudad de México. Escuela de PedagogíaLesson study (LS) is a teachers’ professional development practice with a Japanese origin that, at present, is practiced in more than 30 countries. Literature on LS acknowledges the works of Stigler and Hiebert and of Yoshida in 1999 as the origin of its internationalization. However, earlier studies described its practice and have mostly remained under the radar of LS previous research. This historical and documentary literature review sheds light on these previous studies describing LS, analyses their bibliometric relevance, and uncovers the first use of «lesson study» as the terminology adopted in the international literature. Results reveal eight studies clearly describing LS before 1999 and more oblique references in the 1980s. «Lesson study» appeared first in 1997, but we make the case for the previous use of other terminology. Findings also show that only those studies written by authors who later became key in the field of LS have received a high number of citations. These results bring attention to LS-related literature that has infrequently been cited, granting it recognition in the international history of LS, and expanding our current view in relation to its practice.4 87
