Norm that any tourism company, whether car rental, hotels, travel agencies and / or tour operators, can voluntarily participate in obtaining it. Social Area, which is the object of analysis in this document, and its application to a first-class luxury hotel located in the community of Santa Teresa de Cajón, de Pérez Zeledón, San José, Costa Rica. This research work aims to collect information on the contribution of the Social Field of the CST, in the case applied to the Hacienda AltaGracia hotel, to interpret the true contribution of the certification, to the community, contemplating social, rural, and social elements. sustainable development, through consultation processes of the regulations applied in the hotel, and the effects that this caused to the inhabitants of the community, through data collection, work tours, and approach to the inhabitants of the area, resulting in the lack of a real involvement of the norm, and the little genuine interest in collaborating with the needs of the community.3 81
