González‐Ramírez<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Electric vehicles (EVs) offer significant potential for advancing sustainable environmental goals. However, their widespread adoption has been concentrated in urban areas, raising challenges for interurban travel. In many countries, charging station networks are primarily located within cities, highlighting a key opportunity for expansion to support longer distance journeys. This article addresses the facility location problem for EV charging stations to enable interurban travel. We propose a multiobjective optimization model based on the flow refueling location model with three objectives: maximizing CO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> emissions reduction, minimizing total costs, and reducing user charging time. The model is solved using an epsilon constraint approach, and Mexico's charging station network is used as a case study. Through computational experiments, various scenarios are evaluated, and a comparative analysis is performed between electric and internal combustion vehicles. Results show that deploying 20 strategically located charging stations could mitigate 3.1 million tons of CO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>, requiring an investment of nearly USD 3.9 million.</jats:p>37 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

A model for a heterogeneous fleet, suggested by Olivera (Heurísticas para problemas de ruteo vehículos, Universidad de la república, 2004), was adapted to consider the vehicle’s capacity in weight and volume. Different types of vehicles were used, increasing the number of variables; therefore, the solution of this model is limited by the increasing complexity of its combinations. As a result, the commercial software does not have the capacity to perform accurate calculations; in addition, computing time is longer for a single problem with more than a dozen clients. A two-phase heuristic method is presented as an alternative procedure to solve the VRP, as well as a meta-heuristic algorithm for the complexity of the problem from a genetic algorithm (GA) approach and its codification in a heterogeneous fleet, which allows the solution of great magnitudes and scales. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Secuenciación de trabajos en una línea de SMT con enfoque multiobjetivoA partir de 1850, los sistemas productivos han evolucionado de forma muy rápida, especialmente a partir del último tercio del siglo xx, debido a la globalización y a la competencia empresarial, regida por la capacidad de los países para producir de manera más eficiente que los demás. De esta manera, estos países tienen dominio, a nivel mundial, de los ámbitos industrial y tecnológico; las naciones más desarrolladas son, por consecuencia, los Estados más ricos, en su mayoría producto de sus estrategias de producción. Esta situación es efecto, precisamente, de dicha evolución que incluye la administración de los sistemas, los procesos y la tecnología. En este sentido, cuando inició la revolución industrial, el esfuerzo del empresario se enfocó en lograr producir lo máximo posible, aun a costa de la seguridad de su personal. Sin embargo, esta forma de proceder tuvo que mejorar al avanzar el tiempo y desarrollar una mejor experiencia en actividades productivas, logrando la evolución e identificar así diferentes medios para lograr la administración de operaciones, a finales del siglo xix y principios del XX. La administración de operaciones tiene como razón de ser, la utilización de técnicas y metodologías que logren la coordinación de las áreas funcionales de la empresa con el área de producción. Item type:Publication, A Capacitated Vehicle Routing Model for Distribution and Repair with a Service Center(MDPI, 2025) ;Irma-delia Rojas-cuevas; ; <jats:p>Background: Distribution systems often face the dual challenge of delivering products to customers and retrieving damaged items for repair, especially when the service center is separate from the depot. An optimized solution to this logistics problem produces benefits in terms of costs, greenhouse gas emissions, and disposal reduction. Methods: This research proposes a Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem with Service Center (CVRPwSC) model to determine optimal routes involving customers, the depot, and the service center. AMPL-Gurobi was used to solve the model on adapted instances and new instances developed for the CVRPwSC. Additionally, a Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS) algorithm was implemented and compared with AMPL-Gurobi. Results: The model was applied to a real-world case study, achieving a 40% reduction in fuel costs, a reduction from 5 to 3 routes, and a sustainable logistics operations model with potential reductions of greenhouse gas emissions and item disposals. Conclusions: The main contribution of the proposal is a minimum-cost routing model integrating item returns for repair with customer deliveries, while the limitation is the exclusion of scenarios where return items exceed vehicle capacity. The current case study addresses a problem that affects an automotive company, which is the excessive delivery time of a spare part to its both national and international authorized dealers. In order to reduce the delivery time of this replacement part, the Lean Manufacturing methodology was used. For this purpose, the value stream mapping and the proposed A3 report are the tools used. With the use of these tools, activities that did not add any value are eliminated or modified; in addition, the logistical flow of the modules of the door-side trim panel delivery process is improved. As a result, added value is increased, the delivery time is reduced (for Mexico) and the number of product variants is reduced. Now, the painting process is done by the authorized dealers, and the number of pieces used for every spare part was estimated.
