Item type:Publication, Three Fragments of Empedocles of Acragas An Interpretation through the Lens of Cultural Myth CriticismThis paper examines three fragments of Empedocles through the lens of cultural mythocriticism to analyze the interaction between myth, cosmology, and soteriology. After situating his work within the transition from the Greek Archaic to the Classical period, it explores the concepts of philótēs and neîkos as the driving forces of the cosmic cycle and the purification of the soul. Through a philological and comparative analysis with Orphic and Pythagorean traditions, the study argues that Empedoclean poetry integrates natural knowledge with religious experience. This synthesis results in a hierophanic language that, by fusing myth and philosophy, reactualizes a primordial time in which archetypal truths are manifested, and the vision of the cosmos is unified. © 2026 Universidad Complutense Madrid.
27 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Um mito da água: da lagoa Styx à poesia hispano-americana
In accordance with a myth-critical perspective, we treat the topic of water in Alfonsina Storni's literature as a lyrical anticipation of the idea of personal death, based on the analogical model of the waters of the Styx lagoon; we will observe that the poetic recreation bases its effect on the emotional intensity latent in the common imagination and whose representation comes from the Greco-Roman tradition. We present the mythical topic to underline its dominant notes; then, we synthesize its reference value; finally, we select the most conclusive examples of Storni's poetry in which the semantic field of the word "water" appears, directly evoking the idea of death to verify the symbolic content attributed to the natural element.
17 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
