Un paseo por la historia de la cocina-espacio-mueble

Desde que el hombre descubrió el fuego, éste se volvió el corazón de la casa común, un lugar de reunión, en donde lo mismo se cocinaban ideas que alimentos. Hoy en día la cocina es un espacio con tecnología de punta. La nueva gama de electrodomésticos conforman una red de aparatos con funciones que por medio de Internet facilitan las tareas domésticas y que, por si fuera poco, pueden también recibir instrucciones a través de otros equipos informáticos o por medio del teléfono celular, PALM o PDA. Concebida boy día, como un espacio, amplio y luminoso que se abre y se integra al resto de la casa; dista mucho de la concepción arquitectónica del Renacimiento, entre más apartada y más desapercibida pasara la cocina, mayor éxito tendría el proyecto arquitectónico. Ligereza, comodidad y belleza son algunas de las cualidades que se destacan en las cocinas de hoy, con diseños a base de muebles abiertos, repisas que parecen flotar, grandes cajoneras de poco peso y sobre todo mucho espacio, aunadas a la combinación de diferentes materiales, con una iluminación cálida, hacen más confortable el habitar la cocina, que ha llegado a ser de nuevo el corazón de la casa y centro de social y emocional de sus habitantes. « Dentro de la cocina el hombre es un set social.
