Abstract
The combination of tourist activities with fishing activities in rural beach areas represents an opportunity to improve the living conditions of the population under study. Such is the case of Cerro Cabezón, a town belonging to the Municipality of Guasave, in Sinaloa, Mexico, seat of the main access by sea to move to Navachiste Bay, whose landscape is recognized among the most beautiful in the region. The main objective of the study consisted of evaluating its tourist potential from the design and application of a tourist inventory to establish the main natural and cultural resources, developing documentary and field research techniques under a mixed research approach using a questionnaire composed of 41 questions that were applied to 85 people between visitors and residents, as well as a semi-structured interview with 10 key actors of the population, in addition to non-participant observation exercises. As main results, the characteristics, natural and cultural resources of the Navachiste Bay are established, which combined by the opinion of the inhabitants, visitors to the site and key actors of the fishing field, a great potential is established for combining ecotourism activities with fishing activities.
