¿Ciudadanía cosmopolita vs. ciudadanía nacional?

El avance tecnológico, el acercamiento de los seres humanos en tiempo y espacio, y la creación de nuevas comunidades internacionales, han propiciado el resurgimiento de la idea de una ciudadanía cosmopolita; postura acorde con la idea de que nuestro inundo es la casa común de la humanidad. A su vez ese mundo está dividido en territorios, que son la base de la ciudadanía nacional. Defender la propia identidad y las raíces fruto de la nacionalidad, al mismo tiempo que aprender a participar en la promoción de un desarrollo humano acorde con la dignidad personal y con la solidaridad mundial, es el gran reto de todos nosotros como ciudadanos cosmopolitas del siglo XXI. Nuestro texto presenta propuestas para enfrentar este reto y lograr un Inundo donde la justicia y la paz nos permitan vivir mejor, con apertura internacional.

The general technological advances, the fact of human beings getting closer and closer in time and space, and the creation of new international communities, have all made possible the idea of a cosmopolitan citizenship; position in accordance with the idea that our world is the common house of humanity. And, at the same time, that world is divided in territories, which are the basis of the national citizenship. To defend our own identity and the roots grown by nationality, altogether with learning to participate in the promotion of a human development in accordance with personal dignity and with the world solidarity, is our great challenge, being citizens of the XXI Century. Our text presents proposals to face this challenge and to fight to reach a world where justice and peace allow us to live better, with an international openness.
