Abstract
The Brunca Region is home to most of Costa Rica’s indigenous ethnic groups. The Brunca regional branch of the National University is linked to these communities through its substantive action, employing outreach. Thus, some projects are managed, matching the knowledge areas of the headquarters: Education and Culture, as well as Society and Economic Development. One of these initiatives is the “Promoting Community Social Capital in Indigenous Territories” program implemented by the headquarters and supported by CONARE’s Regionalization Funds. The topic addressed in this document is the process of cultural tourism in Guanacaste de Ujarrás developed by the Shuwik group. The objective is to make known the communal cultural revitalization processes that are promoted to strengthen job generating enterprises in the community of Guanacaste de Ujarrás in Buenos Aires, Puntarenas. Some of the results obtained in this qualitative research are the definition of three routes in which the cultural-historical, natural and gastronomic component is emphasized in the indigenous territory and departs from the Talamanca Mountain Range and the accompaniment in the production of advertising material.
