    What would have happened if a relatively looser fisheries policy had been implemented in the European Union (EU)? Using Bayesian methods a Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model is estimated to assess the impact of the European Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) on the economic performance of a Galician (north-west of Spain) fleet highly dependant on the EU Atlantic southern stock of hake. Our counterfactual analysis shows that if a less effective CFP had been implemented during the period 1986–2012, fishing opportunities would have increased, leading to an increase in labour hours of 4.87%. However, this increase in fishing activity would have worsened the profitability of the fleet, dropping wages and rental price of capital by 6.79% and 0.88%, respectively. Welfare would also be negatively affected since, in addition to the increase in hours worked, consumption would have reduced by 0.59%.

    The objective of this research is to shift the narrative toward the impact of international sanctions against Iran and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on the financial growth of the sports industry. Employing Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), we delve into the diverse factors influencing the financial dynamics of the sports sector in Iran. After an extensive review of the research literature, we identify pivotal elements affecting the financial prosperity of the sports industry. Using expert opinions and the content validity index (CVI), we select 20 significant factors shaping the financial landscape of the sports industry in Iran. Subsequently, we evaluate the importance and performance of these identified factors, drawing insights from the perspectives of 12 sports economics experts and sports managers. Employing Decision-making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DANP) and IPA methods, we analyze the interplay of these factors. The research outcomes underscore the pivotal role of international sanctions against Iran and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in influencing the financial growth of the sports industry. Noteworthy factors include the stability of sports club incomes, the commercialization of the sports industry, private sector investment in sports, and the allocation of sports expenses within government expenditures. These findings illuminate the nuanced relationship between external geopolitical factors and internal financial dynamics, shaping the trajectory of the sports industry's financial growth in Iran. ©The authors ©Wiley-Blackwell ©Journal of Public Affairs.

    Con la reforma constitucional de 2013 en México, se reformaron y en su caso crearon diversas leyes que regulan el nuevo paradigma en materia de exploración y extración de hidrocarburos para nuestro país. Nacieron los Órganos Reguladores Coordinados en Materia Energética, encargados de regular y supervisar las actividades en la materia. La tesis busca conocer si la arquitectura institucional que siguió Mexico para la creación de estos órganos fue la correcta en base a un análisis legal, funcional y económico comparado con diversos paises productores también de petroleo.

    La incidencia de los medios masivos de comunicación en la generación de legislación político jurídica o de la llamada democrática : el espacio público transformado por el acceso a la información pública en México en el período 1997-2003
    (2007) ;
    Hernández Franco, Juan Abelardo
    Es fundamental el poder apreciar la incidencia que tienen los medios y con ello exigir una responsabilidad social y política mayor. Una responsabilidad auto dada por ellos mismos o bien una responsabilidad prevenida por un Consejo de Medios o bien por una legislación marco y por un poder judicial fuerte que obligue a los medios a reconducir su acción a canales propositivos sociales y no solamente a canales propositivos empresariales. La acción de los medios masivos de comunicación engloba una responsabilidad social alta.

    Políticas públicas sostenibles para la transición energética : el caso de los certificados de energías limpias en México
    (2023)

    Análisis teórico-econométrico del efecto de los Certificados de Energías Limpias (CELs) en la transición energética de México, como un instrumento de política pública que se implementó con mayor auge durante los años 2015-2017. Se revisan aspectos teórico-conceptuales de la transición energética hacia el uso de fuentes limpias de generación eléctrica en el marco de la problemática global que gira en torno al cambio climático, en donde instrumentos como los CELs se perciben como impulsores de inversión de las energías limpias. De esta manera, además de mostrar el efecto positivo que los CELs pueden tener en la transición energética, los hallazgos se focalizan en la sostenibilidad de este tipo de instrumentos.

    The geography of organizational change: A critical review
    (2021)
    Mucharraz y Cano, Yvette
    This paper explores the role of geography in relation to the theories on organizational resilience. Prior studies have addressed the construct of disaster in relation to place and community resilience in supporting the development of sustainable livelihoods, but the application of geography to organizations in the context of disasters remains unexplored. This critical review examines this emerging concept in context. In doing so, it delineates three levels of understanding embedded in the construct: subject, organization, and context. It helps explore the intangible elements that may mirror organizational place and space, where the organizational structure becomes fundamentally challenged in a disaster situation. This review calls into question the role of agency and ethical decisions of leaders – and those who hold emergent leadership roles – helping to re-construct power asymmetries that are revealed in disaster settings, assuring that individuals and livelihoods are bolstered in existing geographies.

    Precarious workers in the era of digitalisation: identifying the job-related outcomes of insecurity

    In the era of digitalisation, non-tech and precarious workers suffer from high levels of job instability and receive lower wages compared with permanent and tech workers. We conducted a survey among 201 non-tech and precarious workers in Peru in order to identify the consequences of job insecurity among them. These groups of non-tech and precarious employees worked for small private companies, which located in the districts of Chimbote and Nuevo Chimbote in the northern part of Peru. We considered the effects of job insecurity on workers' job dissatisfaction, vitality, friendship, positive works attitudes, and social support. The SPSS software has been used for teasing the hypotheses of the study. Our results showed that job insecurity decreases non-tech workers' vitality and increases their job dissatisfaction. Furthermore, our findings reveal that a higher level of job insecurity is related to lower levels of friendship in the workplace. More interestingly, we found a negative association between job insecurity and non-tech and precarious workers' social support of each other in the workplace. It seems that precarious workers less care about each other needs and demands once the perception of job insecurity among them is very high. ©The authors ©Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

    Causation processes and innovation strategy in small- and medium-sized firms in emerging countries: The moderating role of founder-CEOs' human capital

    In the dynamic and resource-constrained environment of emerging countries, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face unique challenges in pursuing innovation strategy. This study addresses a critical gap in understanding how founder-CEOs' causation processes interact with human capital to shape SMEs' innovation strategy. While previous research has separately explored the impact of causation processes on innovation and the influence of founder-CEOs' managerial experience, these streams remain disconnected. Drawing on human capital theory, we investigate how adopting causation processes affects innovation strategy in emerging country SMEs, focusing on the moderating role of founder-CEOs' human capital. Our primary analysis utilises two waves of multi-informant survey data from 103 Indian SMEs. Results reveal that founder-CEOs' specific human capital moderates the relationship between causation processes and innovation strategy. This moderating effect strengthens with rich marketing experience but weakens with extensive technological experience. We supplement our findings with qualitative insights from interviews with 14 Indian and 19 Chinese SME founder-CEOs. This additional analysis provides further context and validates the applicability of our results. Our research contributes to a nuanced understanding of SME innovation dynamics in emerging countries and offers valuable implications for both theory and practice in fostering innovation-driven growth in this vital economic context. ©The authors ©Elsevier.
