    Community style leadership's effects on organisational performance: analysis across industries and firm sizes in Mexico
    Scholars and practitioners, across fields of study, have spent decades analysing and documenting the complexities of different styles of leadership encountered throughout industries around the world. With that, a series of constructs and respective definitions have been developed to better understand the implications of taking on certain leadership styles. Mintzberg’s (2009) communityship concept is no exception; in fact, it has motivated the development of this empirical study aimed to uncover the characteristics of a community style leadership in organisations operating in Mexico. This study contributes to the understanding of the intricacies of a community style leadership and its potential impacts on collaborator satisfaction and commitment towards the firm, as well as on organisational performance The authors © Inderscience Publishers © International Journal of Management Concepts and Philosophy.

    Corporate Social Responsibility and Financial Performance: Evidence from Public Companies Listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange
    The research on how corporate social responsibility (CSR) affects the financial performance (FP) of companies is limited, especially in the case of Mexico. There is a lack of studies that measure the financial impact of socially responsible strategies in Mexican companies. This study introduces an innovative approach by proposing a hybrid model that combines three quantitative methodologies: principal component analysis (PCA), cluster analysis, and an ordered logit model. The goal is to assess the impact of sustainability practices on financial performance. The study considers financial data from the past decade for 91 companies listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange. The results indicate that CSR practices have a positive effect on FP. The proposed hybrid model serves as a valuable methodological tool for evaluating the impact on FP of Mexican public companies listed on the BMV and holding the ESR seal granted by CEMEFI (Mexican Center for Philanthropy). This approach will help monitor the evolution of FP through the adoption of various CSR-related practices. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026.

    Cibernética y racionalidad: Hacia una visión personalista de la empresa
    (Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla, 2018) ;
    Nuestra contribución se enmarca en la reflexión filosófica de la empresa a través del aporte de una concepción cibernética de la acción humana a la teoría organizacional, en contraposición a la visión racionalista que primó hasta mediados del siglo pasado. La cibernética permite la consideración teórica de elementos dinámicos y teleológicos de la acción, de ahí su cercanía al pensamiento aristotélico. Tras presentar brevemente la conexión que observa el filósofo Leonardo Polo entre estos marcos teóricos, rastrearemos su influencia en la teoría organizacional. Para ello, presentaremos las intuiciones de John von Neumann, a quien, el estudio de la dimensión estratégica de la acción humana (y la incertidumbre que le es propia) le condujo a una encrucijada: la formalización axiomática o la ética. Mientras que la teoría dominante siguió el primer camino (teoría económica de juegos), presentaremos en esta contribución “el camino no tomado”: la propuesta de Juan Antonio Pérez López. Esta teoría, fundamentada en una concepción antropológica realista y robusta, ofrece las ventajas teóricas de concebir a la organización como un “sistema abierto” y al ser humano como un sistema libre, Finalmente, mostraremos cómo esta postura permite superar los reduccionismos en que caen otros enfoques (el mismo Pérez López definía su propuesta como una “abstracción completa”) abogando así por una ampliación de la racionalidad, que recupera la dimensión normativa de las ciencias socia les como intrínsecamente necesaria a su desarrollo, bajo la premisa de que “sin virtudes morales no hay comportamiento racional” © Los autores © Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla

    El Management como práctica: una aproximación a la naturaleza del trabajo directivo
    En el presente trabajo se realiza una reflexión sobre la naturaleza del trabajo directivo management, a la luz de los tres modos posibles de conocimiento: la teoría, la práctica y la técnica. Puntualmente, se analiza el trabajo de tres autores: Henry Mintzberg, Ikujiro Nonaka y Alasdair MacIntyre, con el fin de mostrar cómo la evolución del estudio teórico de esta disciplina ha ido evidenciando su carácter eminentemente práctico. Mintzberg aporta una excelente introducción al fenómeno, ya que combina muy bien la observación práctica con la reflexión sobre lo que hacen los realmente directivos. Nonaka, por su parte, resalta el dinamismo de la empresa: su capacidad de innovar, de crear y compartir conocimiento. Finalmente, MacIntyre reivindica la perspectiva aristotélica en el estudio de la vida organizacional, con su revitalización de la noción de práctica. Se concluye resaltando que concebir el trabajo directivo como una práctica abre paso a una teoría normativa de la acción y su influencia en las organizaciones © Los autores © Universidad de Navarra © Revista Empresa y Humanismo. This article reflects on the nature of managerial work, which historically has been approached as a theory, a practice, or a technique. The work of three authors, Henry Mintzberg, Ikujiro Nonaka and Alasdair MacIntyre, is analyzed in order to show how the evolution of this discipline’s theoretical study demonstrates its eminently practical nature. Mintzberg provides an excellent introduction to the phenomenon, perceptively combining practical observation with reflection on what managers actually do. Nonaka, on the other hand, highlights the dynamism of the business firm and its ability to innovate, create and share knowledge. Finally, MacIntyre revives the Aristotelian perspective in the study of organizational life, revitalizing the idea of practice. We conclude by emphasizing that conceiving of managerial work as a practice implies the acceptance of a normative theory of organizations ©The authors © Universidad de Navarra © Revista Empresa y Humanismo.

    The effects of flexible work models and internal CSR on wellbeing, productivity, and performance
    After the COVID-19 lockdown, many organisational leaders were adamant about their workers returning to in-office work. As the lockdown proved that productivity, at the very least, does not decrease with remote work, a considerable number of workers were unwilling to compromise their newly found work-life balance which led to a more flexible culture, and the development of different work models. The question is, how have changes in work models after the COVID-19 lockdown impacted individual and team performance? This empirical study develops two different models to assess perceptions of collaborators and leaders regarding a socially responsible flexible culture; findings show that participants perceive flexible work models as a cause for an increase in productivity and performance. © The authors © Inderscience Publishers © International Journal of Business Innovation and Research.

    The Sustainable Industrial Site of the Future Based on Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Artificial Intelligence, and Energy Policy
    (Springer Nature Switzerland, 2026)
    M’Baye, Abaubakry
    ;
    The world’s high emissions of carbon dioxide are the primary cause of climate change and its harmful consequences, such as floods, storms, and droughts. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, human-induced warming reached approximately 1 °C above preindustrial levels in 2017, increasing at 0.2 °C per decade. The industrial sector contributes greatly to this global warming, as it is among the largest energy consumers. Indeed, industrial processes require a lot of energy, for example, for cooling, venting, pumping, producing steam, and hot water. This chapter focuses on industrial sites and aims to find a global solution to accelerate their transition toward sustainability. The study defines a clear and robust framework to obtain a sustainable industrial site and to keep it sustainable. Technologies (both well-proven technologies and new technologies) and policies are examples of tools used during the research. The method used is also supported by the current state-of-the-art on carbon emissions reduction and energy savings. The framework is based on four levers: energy efficiency, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and energy policy and management. This framework can be used by any organization, stakeholders, and policymakers. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026.

    Transpacific Integration and Open Regionalism: The Case of Singapore as Associated State of the Pacific Alliance
    (Nurimedia Co. Ltd., 2024)
    Fonseca, Fabricio A.
    ;
    Sanchez Orozco, Miriam L.
    The Transpacific integration process is entering its third decade, and it encompasses a vast number of economic agreements and a wide range of actors on both sides of the Pacific. In the side of Latin America, the Pacific Alliance (PA) and its member states have been identified as using the concept of open regionalism to maximize their integration efforts, not only between themselves, but also with their counterparts in the Asia-Pacific. With the introduction of the category of Associated State, the PA founding members (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru) have been able to add a new dimension to this Transpacific integration process. In 2022, Singapore was the first country to receive that category after finalizing negotiations for a free trade agreement with all the Alliance members. Other candidates are Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and more recently, South Korea. This article intends to trace the process of Singapore’s partnership with the PA, exploring the different motivations and features of economic ties between both sides of this new development. Therefore, through the observation of qualitative data and descriptive statistics, we suggest that it is possible to move beyond material incentives and drives, and emphasize elements such as shared values and ideas, in order to better comprehend the decision of those actors in coming together and continue promoting notions associated with a liberal and multilateral trading system, as a preferred model for Transpacific cooperation. ©The authors ©Nurimedia Co. Introduction Digital platforms are increasingly used in higher education to deliver content, assess learning, and measure complex cognitive processes such as executive functions. Although the DeLone and McLean information systems success framework has been widely applied to e-learning platforms, empirical evidence on user-centered evaluation of digital cognitive assessment tools in higher education remains limited. Methods The study evaluated Bloom 2.0, a web-based platform that administers six executive function tasks: Tower of Hanoi (3-disc and 4-disc), Raven’s Progressive Matrices, Stroop, Token Test, and the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test. Sixty-four undergraduate students from Universidad Panamericana (Mexico City) completed the full six-task battery in March 2026. Of these, 55 also responded to a 15-item Spanish adaptation of Doll and Torkzadeh’s End-User Computing Satisfaction (EUCS) survey and two open-ended prompts. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s α , and inductive thematic coding of open-ended responses. Results Overall satisfaction was high ( M = 4.28 , S D = 0.91 on a 1–5 scale), with 81.0% of responses rated 4 or 5. Internal consistency was high (Cronbach’s α = 0.936 for the full scale; α = 0.749 – 0.874 across dimensions). Accuracy was the highest-rated EUCS dimension ( M = 4.39 ), whereas Content received the lowest mean rating ( M = 4.20 ). Open-ended responses yielded six themes, with instruction clarity the most frequent (58%). The remaining themes were overall positive comments, interface and visual design, cognitive fatigue during the Raven task, the closing and feedback experience, and anxiety related to visible timers or error counters. Discussion Bloom 2.0 was usable in this undergraduate sample and produced internally consistent satisfaction responses. The findings address users’ perceptions of system quality and satisfaction and do not constitute psychometric validation of the underlying cognitive tasks. No criterion or convergent validity was evaluated against a clinician-administered reference battery in this study. The main issues were related to task instructions, interpretation of feedback, and usability elements associated with task guidance. The next version should revise task instructions, improve the closing feedback screen, and recalibrate task cutoffs before the platform is compared with a clinician-administered reference battery.
