    Transformation of Indian railways–a story of change, challenges and visionary leadership

    The success or failure of an organization hinges on the leadership qualities of its leaders. Effective leaders assist their subordinates in finding solutions to their challenges. Leadership in Indian Railways involves bringing together resources, formulating strategies, organizing, and controlling activities to achieve set objectives. Additionally, the leaders within Indian Railways are responsible for selecting goals, deciding on actions, and motivating people to carry them out. In essence, leadership in Indian Railways is a management function focused on setting goals and inspiring people to work towards achieving them. Leaders in Indian Railways guide their teams by setting clear objectives and helping subordinates navigate the best path to achieve these goals. Indian Railways leadership can be seen as the art or process of influencing people to work willingly and enthusiastically towards the accomplishment of group goals. The key elements of leadership within Indian Railways include power, a deep understanding of people, the ability to inspire followers, and the leadership style and work environment created within the organization. ©The authors ©Edelweiss Applied Science and Technology ©Learning Gate.

    Time management for leaders and impact on productivity: A review study

    Increased productivity, action, and results are oriented towards the objectives of the organization and rely heavily on effective time management, which is among the critical attributes of a leader. This article argues that time management should be treated as a key skill among leaders, with a focus on the need for reserving time for what matters, effective delegation, and resolution of overstrain. This article addresses multiple streams that present the phenomenon of time management as a problem of leadership, productivity, and emotional intelligence in a remote and hybrid era. How time management is perceived in different cultures and time management in a globalized world are examined as well. Additionally, this study illustrates a positive relationship between efficient time organization and the performance of the organization, including creativity and motivation among employees. With the criticism of the literature already available, the possibilities for the practical application of such strategies as planning a management process and consideration of the trends are presented in a more general way. This study emphasizes the changing landscape of leadership output while shedding light on how time management skills can be aligned with today’s organizations. ©The authors ©Innovative Research Publishing ©International Journal of Innovative Research and Scientific Studies.

    Higher education requires responding to contemporary challenges and future trends that face humanity by equipping students with new skills that allow for their personal and professional development. Therefore, universities should promote educational leadership and innovation to enrich learning experiences with novel methods and approaches that advance the education they provide. This workshop offers a framework for reflecting upon and identifying those aspects that can help (re) shape learning experiences in these terms. Participants will conduct discussions about their views on current challenges, learning experiences, educational leadership, and innovation, and find alternatives to advance engineering education in delivering high-impact value to students, organizations, and societies in general. ©The authors, IEEE.

    Women and Leadership in Higher Education: A Systematic Review

    The theoretical postulates of gender studies demonstrate that inequality, when it comes to women, is more of a sociocultural construct than the result of nature. Gender inequality is typical of higher education, where inclusion of women was a milestone and where the “female advantage” phenomenon refers to the rise of women at this level. Thus, this study aims to investigate the patterns of action that women take in academia when exercising leadership positions. It aims to understand the social behavior related to this phenomenon based on scientific research. The study followed a quantitative method, systematizing the process based on the PRISMA. 2020 guidelines to work with the bibliographic material identified in the Scopus database, and another qualitative method was used in conjunction for a resulting descriptive documentary analysis of the results obtained. This study concludes that women exercise leadership in higher education in teaching, research, and management roles with unequal participation in each of them. ©MDPI

Thus, the company must see man as a whole, as an end and not as a means, to achieve what the company must seek for society, that is, the common good, and, with it, the man’s objective good. This chapter aims to demonstrate a thorough, structured way of knowing, understanding and potentiating human faculties, virtues and passions in favor of a kind of leadership that focuses more on the human person. It is framed by business’s trend of social responsibility and its current impact.     Power, Authority, and Leadership: A Proposal for Organizational Theory in the Post-Bureaucratic Era

    Organizations are privileged structures in contemporary society given that they contain and manage a large part of individuals' activities. This is so much so that a company's success depends on an adequate organizational structure. As such, this chapter studies the depths of organizations' political dimension with a conceptual, philosophical-political, and historical investigation on the development of the relationship between power and authority within organizational theory. It does so with the aid of Spanish author Juan Antonio Perez Lopez's organizational management framework. Starting from the crisis of the modern bureaucratic model, in which rationalization continually increases, and power is separated from authority, this chapter maintains, to the contrary, the hypothesis that, in the post-bureaucratic era, a new paradigm for organizational theory is needed for studying the relationship between power and authority.     La frónesis aristotélica como factor clave para el liderazgo en la empresa creadora de conocimiento según Ikujiro Nonaka

    Some Western organizational studies scholars have proposed that Aristotelian Phronesisrepresents a way of including practical reason in research on business topics such as decision-making, knowledge management, ethics and leadership. Ikujiro Nonaka, a Japanese scholar with notable theoretical and practical contributions to knowledge creation in organizations and with extensive experience in Japanese corporations, has joined this group of academics. As an Eastern thinker, he takes on a Western classical tradition, namely the virtue of Phronesis, making an important contribution to the application of ethical notions to business practice, in this case knowledge management. To locate his conceptualization of Aristotelian practical wisdom, we briefly describe his theory of knowledge creation, pointing to phroneticleadership skills as essential drivers of knowledge creation in organizations. Furthermore, we assess Nonaka’s incorporation of practical rationality from the point of view of the Western classical tradition.To conclude, we discuss the scope and limits of the use of Phronesisin Nonaka´s contribution, and ultimately suggest that incorporating the will helps us to understand prudence as a virtue and not just as an intellectual habit © Cuadernos De Administración
